StarCom is an industry leading optical communications system with full duplex fibre coupling. StarCom also supports dual polarisation and quantum key distribution (QKD).

The STARCOM optical antenna system is made up of two payloads: an optical terminal, i.e., Laser Communication Terminal (LCT), and a separate Antenna Control Unit (ACU); fibre coupling provides for multiplexed and higher order data rates with a full payload functionality typically also requiring an optical modem (e.g., MBRYONICS StarCom-100G modem) and optical amplifier.
